Alan Jones spoke with Angela Vithoulkas this morning about the ongoing drama and injustice being felt by residents and small business owners along the Sydney Light Rail route.
It was announced on the show that after 16 years of outstanding service at Vivo Cafe on the corner of King and George streets in Sydney, the doors will close on August 24th.
Angela was emotional as she spoke about her heartbreaking decision to close the doors, highlighting she can no longer afford to pay the bills and needs to go.
After years of advocating to the NSW Government and Transport for NSW over the project, keeping the shop functional is no longer possible.
“I understand that the government feels they are in a situation that is challenging but frankly none of us care any more about how the government feels.
“They should stop applauding themselves for the 69 businesses that they have helped and start calculating the thousands that they haven’t helped.” Angela said.
With a final closing date of the 24th, Angela and her brother Con hope to send off the shop in the only way they know how – professionally, and as a family.
