Sydney Light Rail

 

Since construction began on the Sydney Light Rail project in 2015, businesses from Circular Quay to Central station along George Street, Surry Hills to Moore Park, Kensington, Kingsford and Randwick have :

  • incurred significant financial losses as a result of the light rail construction
  • declared bankruptcy as a result of the light rail construction
  • suffered severe mental health issues as a result of financial ruin
  • been rejected from applying or denied rental assistance by Transport for NSW despite being genuinely impacted by light rail

Commercial property owners have :

  • been unable to lease their properties due to light rail construction
  • provided no financial recourse from Transport for NSW

Residents have :

  • seen their properties damaged as a result of the light rail construction
  • seen a significant loss in value of their properties with light rail on their doorsteps
  • suffered extreme mental health issues
  • been denied alternative accommodation by TfNSW during noisy & excessive out-of-hours construction

 

The Small Business party has been instrumental to the facilitation of a class action lawsuit against the NSW state government. Following the successful gathering of businesses, we are now collecting names and information for residents who wish to pursue a class action suit against Transport for NSW.
