On Saturday Angela and The Small Business Party joined over 40 businesses in Newcastle to sign up for a class action against the New South Wales Government, and in particular Transport for NSW.
Since construction began in 2017, business owners along the Newcastle Light Rail route have suffered extreme and devastating losses due to the haphazard way in which the light rail has been managed.
Transport for NSW are not concerned about the welfare of these business owners, and is more concerned with achieving infrastructure targets – ignoring the cost of human capital.
“This uplift is never going to make up for the losses that we’ve already experienced. There’s no time machine to go back here, and if there is any uplift it will be years before any of that is experienced” Angela said.
